Why Use a TrustMark Registered Contractor?

Introduced in 2005, TrustMark is the only Government endorsed quality scheme for trades in the UK. It's designed to give consumers greater assurance and protection for work completed in and around their property.

In addition to upholding industry specific codes of practice, a TrustMark registered business must also commit to the scheme’s three core pillars of technical competence, good customer service, and good trading practices.

What is a TrustMark Certificate?

A TrustMark certificate tells you that the business in question has been thoroughly vetted to ensure it meets strict operating criteria.

It must be able to prove a solid trading history, evidence its consumer protection practices, and comply with standards of workmanship as described in the TrustMark Code of Conduct. It must also commit to the Customer Charter.

The TrustMark Customer Charter - and What it Means For You

The TrustMark Customer Charter lays out the responsibilities of an accredited business - as well as your responsibilities as a consumer. You can access the full document here, but as an overview, it offers assurance that your chosen contractor will:

Do what it says it will do

A business must turn up at the times agreed to, and work in line with standards of best practice (both in terms of business behaviour and technical standards).

It must offer accurate performance data, supply products as described, carry out full testing, and provide you with details on how to operate and maintain equipment.

Act in a responsible and professional manner

This covers clear and timely communication, respect for you and your property, and data protection.

You’ll have peace of mind that minimum disruption will occur, and that any advice given will be done so with your best interests in mind.

Give you the right information, at the right time, being clear and transparent

This applies to the business, it’s employees, and any subcontractors or third parties used.

You’ll be updated throughout the entire project lifecycle with clear and accurate information, and will not be knowingly misled in any way.

Protect you with clear contracts

A business must be transparent in its pricing, producing itemised quotations with no hidden costs. It must also provide you with clear terms and conditions, including your cancellation rights.

Do its best to resolve any concerns or complaints

In the event something should go wrong, the business must be accessible and respond to any queries or complaints. If it is at fault, it will accept responsibility, and seek a resolution that causes the least possible disruption.

A TrustMark registered business also commits to using any and all customer feedback to improve on its services.
